What is Social-Emotional Well-Being?
Social-emotional well-being refers to the ability to understand and manage emotions, develop positive relationships with others, and make responsible decisions. It involves five key areas:
- Self-awareness – Understanding one’s emotions, strengths, and limitations.
- Self-management – Regulating emotions, setting goals, and persevering through challenges.
- Social awareness – Recognizing and respecting the feelings and perspectives of others.
- Relationship skills – Building and maintaining healthy, positive relationships with peers, teachers, and family members.
